Captain Kirk Approves! William Shatner Loves the New Guys

William Shatner, the one and only Captain Kirk from the original Star Trek series, thinks the new actors playing Captain Kirk are doing a fantastic job! That’s right, the man who brought us the iconic character for years is a big fan of Chris Pine and Paul Wesley, who have taken on the role in recent movies and TV shows.

Shatner, who is almost 93 years old but still super active, talked about this during an interview. He’s got a new documentary coming out called “William Shatner: You Can Call Me Bill,” and while chatting about it, someone asked him about the new Kirks.

Here’s what he said: “They’re wonderful. I just wish I looked as good as they do, and their kind, as actors. They’re both wonderful.”

That’s high praise coming from the original Captain himself!

Who are these new Kirks?

  • Chris Pine:You might know him from movies like “Wonder Woman” or “Jack Ryan.” He played Captain Kirk in a whole new set of Star Trek movies that started in 2009. These movies take place in a different timeline than the original series, so it’s kind of like a parallel universe with a younger Captain Kirk.
  • Paul Wesley:This actor is famous for playing Stefan Salvatore in the TV show “The Vampire Diaries.” He recently started playing a young James T. Kirk on the new Star Trek show “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.” This show takes place a little bit before the original series, so it shows us Captain Kirk before he became the captain of the Enterprise.

Why is it cool that William Shatner likes them?

Well, William Shatner pretty much is Captain Kirk. He played the role for years on TV and in movies, and he helped make the character famous. So, when he says he likes what the new actors are doing, it means they’re doing something right! It’s like getting a gold star from the teacher.

Star Trek’s Big Family

The great thing about Star Trek is that it keeps going! Even though the original series ended a long time ago, there are new shows and movies all the time. These new stories let us explore the universe Gene Roddenberry created in new ways, and they also let new actors take on these classic characters.

William Shatner seems happy that Star Trek is still going strong, and that other actors are getting a chance to play Captain Kirk. He even joked that he wishes he could look as good as the new guys! In the end, it’s all about keeping Star Trek alive for a new generation of fans.

Live Long and Prosper!

That’s the famous Vulcan salute from Star Trek, and it means to live a long and happy life. William Shatner has had a long and successful career, and it’s awesome that he’s excited about Star Trek’s future. With new actors like Chris Pine and Paul Wesley keeping Captain Kirk’s spirit alive, Star Trek is sure to boldly go where no man (or woman) has gone before for many years to come!
