It's Over! Eric McCormack and Wife Janet Leigh File for Divorce After 26 Years

After 26 years of marriage, actor Eric McCormack and his wife, Janet Leigh, are calling it quits. According to court documents obtained by ET, Janet filed for divorce from the Will & Grace star on November 25, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.

The couple, who met on the set of the TV series Lonesome Dove, got married on August 3, 1997. They have one son together, Finnigan, who is now 21 years old. In her filing, Janet requested spousal support and for her attorney fees to be covered. She also asked that no support be awarded to Eric. Additionally, she requested an equal division of property as they begin to divide their assets.

Neither Eric nor Janet has publicly addressed the split, but sources close to the couple have indicated that they had been living separate lives for some time. Fans of the couple are shocked by the news, as they were known for their strong and long-lasting relationship.

Eric and Janet’s friendship and professional partnership made them one of Hollywood’s most beloved couples. They worked together on numerous projects over the years, including the hit TV show Will & Grace, where they played the roles of Jack Gallo and Karen Walker.

In a 2007 interview with The Guardian, Eric spoke fondly of how they met and started dating. “No one on the show knew we’d been dating for months,” he said. “She was the assistant director… I was just coming out of a relationship, and not to be trusted. I’d been dating actresses, but Janet was different. She wore jeans, drove a pick-up truck… At first, she wasn’t too keen. She knew actors are a lot of work; it would be like taking your work home with you.”

The couple faced several challenges throughout their marriage, including Janet’s battle with breast cancer in 2019. Eric was by her side every step of the way, supporting her through the difficult journey. However, the stress of the situation took its toll on their relationship, and they began to drift apart.

Fans of the couple are expressing their support online, with many calling for them to reconcile and work through their differences. Others are wishing them both the best of luck during this difficult time.

While the exact reason for their split is unknown, it’s clear that the couple grew apart over time. In a 2020 Instagram post, Eric shared that “the pandemic lockdown has been interesting, to say the least. We’ve learned a lot about each other.” He jokingly added, “We’re either gonna come out of this renewed or divorced.” Unfortunately, it seems that the latter has come to pass.

As the world waits for more information about the reasons behind the divorce, fans can only hope that the couple finds peace and happiness in the future. Despite their split, Eric and Janet will always be remembered as one of Hollywood’s most adored couples, and their contributions to the entertainment industry will continue to be celebrated.
