Remember Tim Allen’s hit 90s sitcom, Home Improvement? Well, forget about a reboot anytime soon, at least not with the whole original cast. Patricia Richardson, who played Tim’s wife Jill on the show, recently threw cold water on the idea.

Here’s the thing: there have been rumors swirling about a Home Improvement reboot for a while now. Tim Allen himself even hinted that the old gang might be getting back together. But Patricia Richardson says hold on a minute!

Not on Board

In a recent interview, Richardson made it clear she’s not interested in a reboot. She said she was never even asked to be in one! Apparently, Tim had been saying the whole cast was excited for a reunion, but according to Richardson, that’s simply not true.

She said it felt “weird” to hear Tim talking about a reboot when he hadn’t even spoken to her about it. Richardson even went on Twitter to say she’s not involved in any project to bring back Jill Taylor, her character on the show.

Why No Reboot?

So why is Richardson so down on a reboot? There are a few reasons.

First, she thinks the original show ended at a good time. They had eight successful seasons, and she worries a reboot wouldn’t be as good. Sometimes, it’s best to leave things the way they are.

Second, things have changed a lot since the show went off the air in 1999. Back then, the Taylor family had three boys. Richardson pointed out that one of the actors who played her sons, Zachery Ty Bryan, has had some legal troubles. Another son, played by Taran Noah Smith, isn’t even acting anymore. The third son, played by Jonathan Taylor Thomas, is more interested in directing and writing these days.

Finally, there’s the sad fact that Earl Hindman, the actor who played their wise neighbor Wilson, passed away in 2003. He was a big part of the show, and Richardson feels his absence would be a big loss.

Memories Are Golden

Richardson looks back on her time on Home Improvement with fondness. She says they did a great show and ended it on a high note. There’s no need to spoil that by trying to recapture the magic years later.

Of course, some fans might be disappointed to hear this news. But hey, there’s always the chance Tim Allen could find a way to do a reboot without Jill. Although, it wouldn’t be quite the same without their on-screen chemistry.

For now, fans can enjoy reruns of Home Improvement and remember it for the classic comedy it was.
